Role Proposition:

Are you passionate about food and want to advance your career in a stunning slope-side hotel? We are looking to recruit a Jr Sous Chef for the upcoming winter season. The Jr Sous Chef works closely with the Sous Chef and the Chef de Cuisine regarding food production, health and safety, sanitation, teaching techniques and food execution while providing direct support to the culinary leadership. The environment is bustling as three (3) large kitchens within the property provide complete food and beverage services to our local, hotel and business guests. Accountabilities:

• Assists in overseeing the operation in the assigned kitchen, as they work together to prepare and deliver an elevated dining experience for the guest
• Ensures assigned kitchen is up to department standards and equipment exceed health and safety guidelines
• Ensures opening and closing procedures are followed for assigned kitchen
• Assist culinary leadership by ensuring the culinary team adheres to the schedule, inclusive of breaks
• Ensures quality execution of menu items that are delivered promptly and presented to specification
• Executes the correct preparation of all special dietary requests as per established standards
• Assists with the creation and execution of daily specials, ensuring they are of 4-star quality and align with the established vision of the restaurant
• Assists in the preparation and execution of menu items during main meal periods
• Provides ongoing guidance to culinary team members as they continue their professional development
• Demonstrates dedication to a creative and positive work environment, fostering a collaborative approach with all F&B team members
• Communicates with all F&B team members, ensuring operational information is passed along to all shift leaders

Ideal Candidate:

• 3-4 years of previous culinary experience, preferably within a Hotel / Resort environment
• One year of production and Banquet experience is plus
• Working towards Red seal Certification or a degree in Culinary Arts
• Holds a current Food Safe Level 1 Certification
• Has a complete understanding of all aspects of the kitchen operations
• Is self-disciplined with a sincere desire to provide an elevated guest experience
• Self-starts on tasks and can respond to varying business volumes as they relate to impacts on the kitchen
• Is physically capable of working in a fast-paced environment and safely lifting heavy loads around 20kg.

This role is eligible for an incentive for successful applicants to receive $1 per hour worked based on completion of a full winter season contract.  Conditions apply to this incentive and will be discussed in detail with successful applicants during the interview and at the job offer stage.
