Duties for Owners, Directors and Officers

Every owner of a workplace must

(a) provide and maintain the workplace in a manner that ensures the health and safety of persons at or near the workplace;

(b) give to the employer or prime contractor at the workplace all known information that can identify, eliminate or control workplace hazards; and

(c) comply with the act, the regulations and any applicable orders.

Every director and officer of a corporation must ensure that the corporation complies with the act, the regulations and any applicable orders. It is important to note that if a corporation commits an offence under the act, an officer, director or agent of the corporation who authorizes, permits or acquiesces in the commission of the offence also commits an offence.
