March 2022 CEO Message
As I write this, I can’t help but reflect that it’s was just two years ago that I went to the Tourism Industry Conference in Victoria to meet the industry I was about to join. I wasn’t official in my role at the time, but want to seize the opportunity to meet the exciting, thriving community I was entering. I recall travelling back thinking how welcoming, vibrant, and talented everyone I met over those 2 days was, and feeling confident about my decision to join go2HR.
A LOT has happened since that time. We have all lived through experiences we thought could never imagine in our lifetime, enduring longer than anyone imagined. It feels like we have turned the page and I am more than ready to get back to meeting in person, travelling and moving on to the endemic phase of COVID-19. And yes, I have never looked back on joining this great industry that is part of our beautiful Province’s identity.
The conference is always a big event for our industry, and go2HR will be there in full force.
Come see me on Thursday at 3:45 pm for an informative session with industry experts on the labour supply issues facing our industry. We’ll be talking about our labour recovery framework, and the steps industry is taking to move forward. Don’t miss Ginger Brunner, our Senior HR Specialist, earlier that day who is taking part in a lively panel presentation with WorkSafeBC and CMHA BC on creating and fostering psychologically safer workplaces. We’ll share some exciting new initiatives as a part of our ongoing partnership with CMHA BC and Justice Canada, so don’t miss it!. We will be launching our Safer Spaces program as well as our new Learning Coaches at the conference. We will also be presenting the Employer First Award at the gala event on Thursday night, and come visit us at our booth we are co-hosting jth our partners at WorkSafeBC. Several go2HR staff with be there too. Cindy Conti, our VCM HR Consultant, Ravina Sidhu our digital marketing lead, and Judy Frankel our manager of Communications will be in attendance – say hi when you cross paths, they are the real muscle at go2HR.
And, finally, on this “anniversary”, I also wanted to take this opportunity to highlight go2HR’s values we established last year and thank you for your ongoing support. I’m proud to lean into these principles that guide our work and our support to the industry as a team.
