November CEO Message
Over the past two weeks, we have watched extreme weather events overcome our province and the devastating aftermath. As an industry, the challenges we continue to face have been fast and furious. But the resolve and the determination to pull together isn’t unique; it’s our DNA, as an industry, and as British Columbians.
Our organization stays close to the situation and has prepared an excellent resource for those impacted employers to navigate. We’re staying close to government updates and will continue to pass along relevant and timely information to support your business. Be sure to connect with some excellent mental health resources from our ongoing partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association BC (CMHA BC).
Labour challenges remain a hallmark of the recovery conversation. go2HR has been facilitating critical discussions with the industry to help inform the path ahead. We’ve identified six key pillars that are helping to guide and frame our recovery discussions. They are:
- Ensuring a Sufficient Labour Supply
- Creating a Renewed Industry Value Proposition
- Enhancing Community Infrastructure
- Enhancing Skills Development
- Embracing Technological Advancement
- Augmenting Business HR Capacity
But as a complex and nuanced issue, it goes far beyond bullet points. We know that we have a lot of work to do in each of these areas. And we’re thinking boldly to create fresh initiatives to handle some familiar challenges. We’re moving ahead quickly so that we can develop a final framework before the end of November. Ambitious indeed, but roll up the sleeves work is what is needed, and that is what we are here to do. We will continue to update you on our progress.
Stay Safe,
Krista
