Name: Loretta Fogarty
School: Quesnel Secondary School, Quesnel
Class: Tourism 11
How I include TCAP in my curriculum: I use TCAP in my Tourism 11 program and the timing of the presentation depends on the semester. I have invited speakers midway through the course as a review of the tourism sectors and as an introduction to the career exploration unit. I also use TCAP at the beginning of the program to introduce the key components of the tourism industry. I look forward to using the program in the new Planning 10 course.
Why I continue to book TCAP presentations: The students respond very favourably to the speakers. They enjoy hearing first hand of their experiences, and of others they know, who work in the tourism industry. The speakers are able to answer students’ questions and through their presentation, provide realistic information about the industry.
What my students say about the TCAP presentation: My students really like the presentations and afterwards, are more aware of the possible careers and opportunities available to them in tourism. They also enjoy the speakers’ enthusiasm and the stories that they tell about their experiences in tourism.

Why I continue to book TCAP presentations: Tourism is the third largest industry in BC and most students will work in the industry at some point in their lives.
What my students say about the TCAP presentation: My students find the presentations relevant and meaningful, especially now that the 2010 Olympics will be held in BC. They also enjoy the video – they find it upbeat and current. After the presentation, they walk away understanding the type of skills that are useful in tourism.
